As we start a new semester in Academic Year 2022, we are pleased to see all of you on Ikebukuro and Niiza campuses. In seeing you coming and going between our campuses, it is our greatest pleasure to see this sight, which used to be normal.
I am sure that our students and guarantors went through a lot of unbearable hardship, because of repetitive enforcement of a state of emergency or semi-emergency spread prevention measures in 2021. Rikkyo University has taken as many infection prevention measures as possible since 2020, and the university was forced to establish partial restrictions for course instruction methods and extra-curricular activities occasionally in order to protect students’ life and health and secure their learning opportunities in 2021.
For that reason, I am truly happy to have this April without being restricted by a state of emergency or semi-emergency spread prevention measures mentioned above. Please be assured that the university will make every effort to ensure the students’ learning opportunities on campus in 2022.
Academic Year 2022 is also a new starting year for the university. Especially, with regards to global initiatives, the university plan to welcome international students under the new academic scheme such as NEXUS Program or PEACE Program. Also, in the ACE Program of the Inter-University Exchange Project, the university will send Rikkyo students to Seoul National University, Peking University, and National University of Singapore and accept their students from these universities. These efforts, I believe, will make our campus an even more globally rich learning place.
Of course, the university continues to struggle with COVID-19. The university will continuously work to provide academic and financial supports for the students who suffer from COVID-19 in their learning and life, while taking all possible measures to protect the prevention of infection. Please feel free to consult the offices if you may have concerns or questions in spending your campus life. Faculty and staff will do their best to provide support for your learning and life.
Let us work together and overcome the difficulties.
Sincerely,
